RESPONSIBILITIES

Perlis Enterprise Inc. (PE) has set out to establish a new standard for identifying and implementing programs to enable the Company to maximize social and economic benefits related to our projects while minimizing any negative impacts. To achieve this goal, a number of interested individuals and groups as well as the help of independent professionals were requested to provide input. Together, a set of principles was established that will help us advance our project in an efficient and socially responsible manner.

PE is committed to fostering clear, open relations with the community in its continuing efforts to be a good neighbor that supports community and economic development in the region.

As a company wishing to conduct business in certain sensitive areas, PE recognizes the need and its responsibility, to be honest and forthright in its reporting of planning, progress, and operations. Without honesty, there can be no trust; without trust, there can be little genuine and timely progress.

PE understands that social responsibility means being responsible to all of society. Stakeholders in our project include but are not limited to our investors, management, and employees but also of primary importance are surrounding communities, indigenous people as well as the regulatory community. All these groups need to be considered.

At the same time, PE needs to achieve economic viability. Without it, a company cannot meet the financial needs associated with socially acceptable methods of operation. PE understands this and will provide a corporate culture that is prudent, honest, and competent.
PE has already taken significant steps to know, understand and demonstrate its respect for the culture and concerns of the indigenous people affected by our projects, and we will continue to work hard at maintaining these efforts. PE will also educate its employees and contractors concerning the culture and concerns of its indigenous neighbors in order to ensure that they too hold the same concern and respect for local people and issues.

PE strongly believes that the success of its endeavors relies upon the support of the local Aboriginal peoples. We would like to continue and enhance that relationship, encouraging the First Nations and Métis people of the region to play long-term and meaningful roles in the development and operations of our project.

PE plans to meet with Aboriginal elders and leaders on a regular basis, actively maintaining its open-door policy. We are interested not only in offering employment to people in the region, but we believe there is an even greater opportunity in exploring the possibility of matching aptitudes to job descriptions. We see this as a way to offer opportunities that are compatible with interests and cultural considerations, helping to provide stable, long-term positions.

Above all, PE truly understands and respects the importance of the air, land, and water in this region, the elements that are the very cornerstones of a long-established northern society. When industrial activity is complete, these cornerstones must be left intact.
